Clients participate in two (2) different sessions during a week. The client will participate in a Psychoeducational Session. This session is used to teach the client skills that are necessary to help them take control over their impulsive behaviors. Clients learn coping skills, calming skills, socialization skills as well as rational thinking skills during this session. Clients practice and demonstrate these skills often until the client is comfortable implementing them without hesitation.
Community Support Training
The client spends time with their counselor discussing their level of comfort using the skills that have been taught. The client and the family can state any additional concerns that may have surfaced or that may require more structured attention. This is the session where the client set their behavior goals and discuss the progress towards reaching that goal.
